Review : V/A 'Life. Love. Hardcore. A Moo Cow Records Comilation' (CD)

Moo Cow Records has to be one of the longest running hardcore-punk label from Belmont, MA.  It came into existence in 1992 and have released noteworthy records from some of the best hardcore bands from the 90's like Atlas Shrugged, Cave In, Despair, Disembodied, Earthmover, Fall Silent, Overcast, Piebald and Temperance. I happen to own 2 MCR 7" vinyls, V/A 'Boston Hardcore - In Memory Of...' (#03) and the FPO / Secret Seven 'Split' (#46). That's why I was stoked to receive a package from Moo Cow Records asking if I can give its 47th release a review. Life.Love.Hardcore compiles some the early vinyl only tracks of the label. First track from Song of Kerman is entitled 'Then I Made The Weeping', an emotional song about civilization's demise. It is then followed by three brutal tracks from Disembodied, which are form 'The Confession' 7". Cable, which can easily be compared with Iceburn, kicks-in with two songs about insanity. Parades End contributes a very emotional track concerning life's miseries and betrayals. Next 9 songs is from a powerviolence band called The Ultimate Warriors. Influenced by Infest, Spazz, and Man Is The Bastard; demolishing your ears with tracks about Anarchy, Teddy Ruxpin, Olson Twins and Napalm Death. Virginia Beach locals Canephora, adds two songs of technical metallic hardcore. Members of this band went to Converge and Dillinger Escape Plan. The next three tracks is from the 'Boston Hardcore - In Memory Of...' 7" compilation, featuring Intent To Injure, Dive and Chilmark. Last band in this compilation is Seven Years War. Offering three furious mid-tempo metallic hardcore songs about enslavement, fear and false salvation. Time to relearn some groundbreaking 90's hardcore.
